I am an Egyptian-Canadian artist currently based in Japan. I graduated from OCAD university in 2024. My work speaks to childish irreverence and mischief that tips over into violence. I enjoy exploring cognitive dissonance and the delicate balance of contradicting realities we witness everyday. I am interested in documenting the emotions that arise from being unable to reconcile what we do not want to believe in with the truth and the anger which arises from that. I celebrate rebellion and spaces that allow anger to be expressed safely. I like to juxtapose prismatic and candy-like use of colour, as well as impressionistic mark making with violent or unsettling subject matter. I like the delicate quality of layering transparent watercolour and colour pencils.

What do you listen to when you work?
Either a million different genres at once or the same thing on repeat ad infinitum. Right now the song I'm playing over and over is symptoms of life by Willow Smith
What artists do you admire right now?
Gosh, there are so many. Right now I really admire Kimio Muraouka and Michelle Patreok.
Favourite medium
Definitely watercolour. Right now I'm exploring Nihonga painting. It is a nedium exclusive to Japanese pratices and it utilizes crushed mineral pigment with animal glue.
What places do you hang out in Toronto?
I really love butterflies and flowers, so highpark and the butterfly conservatory
Everyone should know about
Bullet journaling. It actually works. You don't need to make your journal pretty and spend a million hours decorating it. Just use it to get organized.
Which piece of art you've created is your favourite, and why?
Probably witch. Its one of the few pieces where I was really able to control myself and follow the principle of less is more.
